Current Indications for Transcatheter Mitral Valve Replacement Using Transcatheter Aortic Valves

چکیده
Use of transcatheter mitral valve replacement (TMVR) using aortic valves in clinical practice is limited to patients with failing bioprostheses and rings or disease associated severe annulus calcification. Whereas the use valve-in-valve TMVR appears be a reasonable alternative surgery at high surgical risk, much less evidence supports valve-in-ring valve-in-mitral calcification interventions. Data on results these settings are derived from small case series voluntary registries. This review summarizes current characteristics candidates, screening process, performance procedure, description future perspectives. dedicated devices native noncalcified diseases beyond scope article.

Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement: A Review Article
Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) is a novel therapeutic intervention for the replacement of severely stenotic aortic valves in high-risk patients for standard surgical procedures. Since the initial PARTNER trial results, use of TAVR has been on the rise each year. New delivery methods and different valves have been developed and modified in order to promote the minimally invasive p...

Rising life expectancy results in an increase of degenerative and neoplastic diseases. Population-based observational studies report that 1% to 2% of patients older than 65 years have moderate-to-severe aortic stenosis (AS) (Nkomo et al., 2006). Surgical aortic valve replacement (AVR) dates back to 1960 and is currently the only treatment option for severe AS that has been shown to improve surv...

With the worldwide number of TAVR procedures rapidly approaching 200,000, coupled with an amassed knowledge spanning over a decade, we are able to now reflect on the evolution of TAVR and how changes in technology, operator/institution experience, and patient selection have ultimately affected clinical outcomes. With this in mind, in this issue of JACC: Cardiovascular Interventions, Beohar et a...

Surgical aortic valve replacement (SAVR) has long been the mainstay of therapy for severe aortic stenosis. However, transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) is now generally accepted as the new standard of care for patients with symptomatic aortic stenosis who are not candidates for open surgery. Arguably TAVR may also be a preferred alternative to SAVR in carefully selected high-risk, but...
متن کاملCurrent status of transcatheter aortic valve replacement.
The advent of transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) has modified the treatment of severe aortic stenosis (AS). Large randomized trials and multicenter registries have endorsed the efficacy of TAVR in improving outcomes in patients with severe AS who are inoperable or high surgical risk. There has been a noticeable shift in using TAVR in patients with AS who are not at a high surgical ri...
